Eligible employees in the UK are entitled to up to 52 weeks of maternity leave — 26 weeks of Ordinary Maternity Leave followed by 26 weeks of Additional Maternity Leave. Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is paid for up to 39 weeks. Employees must give at least 15 weeks' notice before the expected week of childbirth.
Eligible employees can take up to 2 weeks of statutory paternity leave. This can be taken as one week or two consecutive weeks, but not as individual days. Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) is paid at the same rate as SMP. From April 2024, paternity leave can be taken at any point in the first year after birth or adoption.
Yes. Create a 'Shared Parental Leave' custom leave type in TimeTally. Shared Parental Leave allows eligible parents to share up to 50 weeks of leave and up to 37 weeks of pay between them. TimeTally helps you track which weeks each parent is taking off so the team can plan ahead.
The team calendar in TimeTally lets you see extended absences months in advance. When maternity or paternity leave is recorded, it appears across the full date range on the calendar. This helps managers arrange cover, redistribute workload, and plan for the employee's eventual return.
TimeTally tracks the leave period and shows when the employee is due back. You can see the return date on the team calendar and plan accordingly. For keeping in touch (KIT) days during maternity leave, you can record these separately using a custom leave type.
